Special Educational Needs at Geddington C of E Primary School

At Geddington School we are very proud of our inclusive ethos and we welcome children from all parts of our local community. As such, our school is made up of children with a wide range of abilities and we believe that over the years many children with SEN and/or disabilities have enjoyed their time at Geddington School where they have thrived, made good progress and have been well prepared for the next stage in their education.

Admissions

All admissions to Geddington School are managed by the Local Authority and is administered according to their fair access policy. Children with a statement of Special Education Need or an EHC Plan apply by a separate process –details of which are on the Northamptonshire County Council website http://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/en/councilservices/EducationandLearning/school-admissions/Pages/SEN.aspx.

Provision

Mrs Hammond is our SENCO and she closely monitors how all our children with SEN and disabilities are progressing. Our aim is that children with SEN make rapid and sustained progress which is as good, if not better, than their peers.  This is achieved through the use of Individual Education Plans where appropriate, regular meetings with teachers and parents, provision of specialist resources, accessing specialist support and targeted interventions that meet a child’s individual needs.

Children with SEN and/or disabilities are fully included in all school activities including after school clubs, trips and school shows/productions.

Accessibility

All areas of our building can be access by wheel chair users with the lower part of the building being linked to the upper section via ‘the snaky path’. The Governors are committed to making any reasonable adaptations to the premises to accommodate individual needs, as and when they became apparent.
